  • I really like the wall at the Korean War Memorial. I understand one veteran actually saw his own face on the wall.
  • The Wall of Shame in Washington, D.C. Because I was a part of that war and I have some buddies on that wall.
  • I've only seen Civil War memorials in Tennessee, but the most moving to me is the one at the Maryville Court House. It is a statue of a soldier with a list of all of the Union and Confederate soldiers from Maryville along with a slave story. I feel a sort of hometown connection to it.
  • "Google" U.S. military cemeteries - both foreign and domestic. These cemeteries - some with thousands of crosses -give a very graphic picture of how many of our military made the supreme sacrifice. The cemeteries are beautifully maintained.
  • I would have to say that the Memorial at Pearl Harbor was the most moving for me. At the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial, you can see the ship fully intact under the water of the harbor and it is incredibly sad. Not in an eerie sort of way but in an epic sort of way. Just thinking that so many people died is sad.
  • I really like the Korean war memorial, but my favorite is the guys raising the flag (my historically lacking brain forgot what it is). It seems really symbolic, as if it's the essence of "Victory!"
  • The World War II Memorial. It's especially moving after dark.
