  • Some of each. Many questions are from people who have no one else to get reliable information from, most are from people who want to prove they are right.
  • Most of the time it's for arguments sake. And even when it's not some still like to turn it into an argument.
  • A bit of both. A third significant component is where it is a declaration of loyalty to those on 'your side', attempting to impress them with your 'devoutness' (is that a word?), strangely this apply to atheists as often as to believers. regards JakobA PS: Why is this q in 'celebrities' ?
  • Generally the questions are fishing for answers they want to hear so they can confirm what they already think or, if the answer differs from what they think, attempt to engage in an often-malicious debate to prove their opinion as righteous. It's not just religion/science questions; you see it with all different questions on here - people ask questions to perpetuate their ideas, not expand their perspectives.
