  • Okay, here's one that's really funny: "womyn" is backhandedly misogynistic. You see, the etymology of the word "man" is that it means any person. If you read ancient court cases and sale records, you might find references along the lines of "two men, a brother and sister." It wasn't until middle or perhaps even modern English that this distinction was lost, and even today there are still relics of it (e.g., "mankind"). The prefix "wo-" means wife. So, "woman" means "wife-man." So when penis-hating feminists try to change the spelling the word "woman" to "womyn," they're still leaving intact an identifier that essentially defines women in terms of the role of marriage to a male.
