You should. If a power surge would come, it could permanently damage the battery(s) of the electronic device you plugged in. A damaged battery would only cause more problems. Not all devices can have their batterys changed by the buyer (without sending it to the manufacturer).

Did you ever use those big, heavy "all-in-one" monitor/keyboards - Workstations, I believe they were called. Not self-contained computers? Green or Amber screen? ;-) Do you remember what it was?
