The NHL can stand to lose in the future. KHL could only be the beginning, as other pro leagues could flourish in all Europe. Pro sports in America have yet to adjust to the prevailing economic realities, especially rising unemployment. Disparities between poor and rich franchises will add to the problem as fans are losing hope and interest. Fans will become more selective with their entertainment budgets.
