Taking average maintenance & driving style into account, how long and/or how many miles/kilometers would a typical Bugatti Type 41 Royale last before breakdown?

You're reading I was thinking, the Bugatti Veyron is not really an AMAZING Automobile. Basically all that this car has shown me is that Bugatti can cram W16 engine into a car the size of a Gallardo. Come on, I have seen V8's that top 1001bHp and 253m/h. Do you disagree?

Right. 1000hp isn't that hard. 1000hp that meets 2006 emissions standards in a car that meets US saftety standards that *still* can go 253 mph *is* amazing.

Easy, half as many cylinders, half as many turbos, same output. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2408738952289885249&q=turbo+ford+gt

And did I mention that it costs WAY less?

I didn't see any top speed runs or emissions certification tests run on the GT TT. It's an impressive piece, but it might not be ready to take the Veyron on the Mulsanne straight just yet.

Seriously, it doesn't cost near what the Veyron costs, and who cares about top speed? What kinda rich ass who can actually afford a Veyron is going to actually DRIVE it the way it was engineered to be driven? The GT TT is cheaper and is far more practical than a 16 Cylinder behemoth.

No doubt, the GT TT is a much better "value". But for even less money you could buy an old Supra and trick it out to be quicker. Some of those are running 1000+ hp.
The Veyron isn't about 'value', it's about being the fastest street-legal production vehicle on the planet. The first 200 mph costs what the GT TT costs. It's that last 53 mph that costs a bundle. Furthermore, I note that the GT TT tends to lose traction (as evidenced in the video). Do you really want that to happen at 200+ mph? It *won't* in a Veyron. Getting to 253 mph *safely* is what you're paying for.
It may not be worth it to you or me (Frankly, I wouldn't spend the money either of these cost on a car), but it's worth it to somebody because the entire production run of Veyrons is sold out.

From what I've read, the most exceptional thing about the Veyron is not so much how fast it is capable of going, but how controllable it manages to be at the speeds which it can reach. There are other cars that can go almost as fast as a Veyron, but they become very difficult to control at those speeds. It seems that this is an important point that is hiding among Old_School's last comment.
