  • Also.. will there be a court date etc. will come later to me...
  • If no cops were called, where would "the crime record" be? Security guards don't count for anything themselves. Oh, court date? Then I have no idea, sorry..
  • If the police issue the trespass authorization and you have to appear in court, then there would be a record. However, if the police weren't called to the scene to issue the trespass warning right there, it seems highly unlikely they would now. Even if they did, it wouldn't manadate a court hearing. I think they're trying to scare you. Which they should. Count yourself lucky. $8 or $800, stealing is stealing. Get in touch with your integrity and consider it a lesson learned.
  • If they didn't call the police then no, it sounds like you got away with it.
  • No. calling the police and a police report, is the key to either having or not having a criminal record.
  • Don't ever enter that store, you're safe.
  • i had a similar situatution that I need advice on..i was stopped for what appeared to be public lewdness and police were called and looked over security tapes, but no charges were brought upon me. i also signed a tresspass notice for mall security before the police came. is this notice legal? can i get it shortened? does anyone know?
  • There were no charges related to the shoplifting. But, it would appear that you were banned via a Trespass Notice... but for how long? Here is how it works... if you return while under the a ban, you'll be charged with Trespassing. No law enforcement needs to be present... if they catch you on a CCTV system... all they need to do is supply it to the cops with the trespass notice and you'll get served a subpoena. If you want to return to the property, I would suggest that you call the General Manager, apoligize for the incident, and ask for forgiveness. They'll revoke the ban... because they'll want you to shop there.
  • Think yourself lucky and learn from your mistake, you might not be so fortunate next time
