  • Get your dog a dog bed. Maybe more than one dog bed. Teach your dog to go and lay on HER BED. You should place one bed near where YOU like to sit, so she can lay on her bed and still be near YOU. Use really prime treats when you start to teach her to lay on HER BED. Meats (raw or cooked, although raw is better for her) or even plain Beef Jerky in tiny bits. What ever will work for YOUR dog...what ever will be seen as a HIGH VALUE REWARD is what you want to use here! Your goal is to make laying on HER BED the most wonderful idea since hamburger, A JOY, A PLEASURE. You could use the same training method for a crate, if she is not already crate trained. The Bed or a Crate is NOT a punishment...never! It is HER PRIVATE SPACE that belongs to her...it should be seen as a reward coupled with an actual reward of PRAISE AND TREAT...for her laying on or in it. As long as you MAKE IT a comfortable, happy thing for her...she will come to see it as a happy, positive thing.
