  • It can still be the battery because it takes very little to turn on lights, see if when you try to start your car do they dim incredibly... is their a ticking sound when you try to turn it over? have you tried to jump start your car? (be careful if you do) but it is probably a bad starter especially if you have been having problems with it (sometimes they just go but usually they go slowly) try turning your car on and off quickly a couple of times ,sometimes it is in a dead magnet zone. another quick fix is go under the car (carefully) and tap (hard but dont slam) with a hammer of some sort on the starter. gl
  • Do not rule out your battery. There may be enough juice to run some lights, but that does not mean there is enought to start the engine. Take the battery to AutoZone and have it checked for free. Car batteries are only good for 3 years. How old is yours?
  • I changed the battery with a friends (exactly the same model) and it was still the same result. So thats why I've ruled it out, unless it wasn't connected properly.
  • Disconnect your battery and take the battery to AutoZone. it may have a dead cell.
  • try checking the battery first
  • try the battery cables on the battery posts first.i had the same problem, this worked for me.
  • When you replaced the battery did you make sure that your contacts were cleaned but good, make sure you clean them and get all the crud off of them, this happens quite alot. However i don't believe this is the cause, my guess would be the starter, it could even be the ignition switch as well, but i would bet its the starter, if you can find the starter on your vehicle sometimes tapping them will make them work for just a bit, and sometimes this does nothing at all, just bank on it being your starter.
  • First the battery may have enough cahrge to light the dash lights and not enough to crank the engine; it could still be the problem, try a jump start. If there is no click when turning the key I would look at the ignition switch could be a relay or a bad starter it owuld help to know the make model year reply by adding a comment below this answer
