no its only banned because its an addictive substance with proven ill effects but then again all drugs have side effects its just with weed the addiction is very strong

The only reason why it's illegal is because the U.S. government has no way to tax it. It has no worse effects than cigarettes and alcohol.

it actually isn't illegal because of the pharmaceutical companies, because they would at least be pushing hard for use of medical marijuana beacuse they would get into the growing industry, so more money for them. its illegal because of the association assigned to weed, and the lazy stoners who smoke it. the public still is under the false impression that marijuana smokers are like cheech and chong.
