People cheat! They want to feel good about their golf game and (they think) their score is a direct reflection on how good they are. "oh it was only a 3 footer I can't miss that.". Some people think that if someone says "that putt is good" they don't need to count the next one. What about the mulligan? How many people take a mulli? GOLF IS A GAME OF MISTAKES and LOTS OF THEM. Recovering from them is what I think makes this game great!

Most people are good natured, caring individuals who would never think of cheating. Of course, those people tend to stay away from golf courses.
