Yes, and it's 95% labour charges, the gasket itself is cheap, you don't say what car, but it's usually a 4 to 6 hour job, and that's if you don't need to get the head skimmed.Get a new cambelt while the engine is apart. If the auto is worth it then you have no choice but to take care of that problem.

It all depends on the car. If it's an economy 4 cylinder then expect to pay upwards of $100 in parts alone. The labor is what is going to cost you and arm and a leg so if you can do it or know somebody who can that will save you lots of money. Typically the larger the engine the more money it'll cost you.
