  • Yes. The suffragettes must have been right, as must anti-war protesters.
  • Definitely - the separation of Church and State etc. Laws are put in place by the State, not the Church; You are in no way compromising your christian beliefs by peacefully protesting against injustice. HOWEVER...rioting, looting, vandalism, assault and a lot of the other antisocial behaviour we see during a protest is most definitely contrary to christian teachings.
  • As long as you dont go down the road of Jerry Falwell and his followers. I was always under the impression that Christianity preached love and tolerance. Protest is a right we all have, and this is due to state laws as many religions used to or still do suppress any free speech.
  • Absolutely. There were priests that protested against the Vietnam War, helped burn draft cards, were arrested and some even did jail time. You always see Christians protesting against abortion and some have been arrested for their actions. While Christians are told that we must obey civil law, we are also told that the laws of God supercede any civil law and are the ultimate authority. At least this is true in the Catholic Church. I can not speak for my Protestant brothers and sisters. Peace to all.
  • I'd say so. Non-Christians shouldn't have a monopoly on freedom of expression.
  • When you have such a decision to make, try checking with your conscience instead of seeking someone else's opinion of right and wrong.
