  • I am a 3l in the nursing program. It seeems I am always trying to stuff more things in my head. Some are at the point I do it without thinking it has become so routine. So I dont think about it, I just try to learn it.
  • Do you mean, like when you are always thinking of ways to outsmart me, when you should be listening and learning from my vast exeriences?
  • Oh yeah. Every f*cking know-it-all I ever met never learns a damn thing.
  • Yah.... because thinking tends to consume attention, and attention is a key resource in learning. Our culture is a bit weird about thinking, we've turned it into a demigod or something. People insult others with comments like "you just don't think!", or "they're idiots because they can't think!". The Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz wanted a brain, and presumed that meant he'd be a big thinker. But there are other cognitive abilities that matter, in particular perception and awareness. Perception is about being able to observe carefully, to see without distortion. Awareness is about being able to integrate multiple perceptions and thoughts at the same time. Both of these are very important for learning, and if ones' attention is preoccupied with thinking, learning (or anything else) can suffer. In Zen-flavored arts like archery, gardening, calligraphy, martial arts, etc., the student has to learn to let go of thinking in order to develop his skills.
  • I think so?
  • Sometimes I look at the code and learn it by doing it. + 5
  • Applies too Golf too...........but I still hit that lady in her buttocks..........I sure did learn alot that day though.
  • i think it does everyday to one person or another, but if people slow down and look slow they it be easy on them to get things right and not think so much it be all good.
  • Sure. If you think too much and your thinking takes you down the wrong path, then you have to "unlearn" what you've learned. What does your name mean? Is penguin just added at the end, or is it "life penguin"? I think it sounds cool. g travels, loves her life, penguin. or g travels, loves her life penguin. C'mon..it's killing me.
