What would you do if your local council refused to clean up litter in your suburb?

I would look into joining a group in protest and stop paying all of my council tax. If the council isn't fulfilling its duty of waste management, and clearing the town of litter, then I would expect us to withhold a portion of our council tax since we would be paying for services not rendered. I wouldn't go about this alone, but as part of a large group we may get away with it and something may be done.

Get yourselves together hire a law firm and sue them. Also look into how they are spending your taxes. This may cause them to try and stretch their muscles by using local law enforcement to harass everybody and that's why you need a lawyer and he has to also contact the state to investigate. They could be embezzling or using funds inappropriately. There could be a lot more to it.

I'm fully aware of how incredibly 'sappy', or rather more formally, mawkish that this may sound, keithold. But I go for lotsa walks. And pick up lotsa crap myself. Just for kicks. What a wierd-o, huh? - ;-)

That's a considerable question,Keith.Thanks you for the question. . Local councils heads are elected or nominated to look after the locality and it includes cleaning up of the litter as well as look after the drainage an sewage. In case they won't do their job,you are given enough freedom to visit the office of the Mayor and report him about the matter.If he doesn't take any steps,you are always welcome to move to other higher authorities. . If,the situation is too worst and requires immediate attention you need to gather some volunteers and clean the locality yourself and make sure the litter is disposed in proper manner but,you need to take snaps and video recordings and handle it over to the media guys.They know it better how to represent public grievances and how to make those snobby officials to get their a**es of their comfortable couches. If you are talking about developed countries then they clean up but take our case, the litter does not get cleaned up that often by the muncipality but we manage by cleaning our own places.+
