You need to work with a Theraband. Check this video at around 1:20 in. Also do lots of relevees and elevees at the barre. Go back to some of your pre-pointe exercises as well. +4

You're reading Generally my feet turn out alright - but I lose it all when I point them. How can I improve my ankle flexibility and maintain it while pointing? (Also, any ankle strength exercises are greatly appreciated:-).)

Thx (+1 - sorry I couldn't rate more).
I know of some theraband exercises, but I'm pretty sure I hadn't heard of these.
Pre-pointe? I'm sorry, do you mean beginner pointe exercises, or demi-pointe, or something else?
Also, Anaheim Ballet = (Y). They always have great videos.

I would go back to your pre-pointe exercises at the barre. You are correct in thinking that you are losing your turnout when pointing because your ankles are week. Also try some coupe relevees . The balancing will help strengthen your ankles as well. Another thing to try is lie on your back and write the alphabet with your foot.
Don't worry about the ratings. That is totally unimportant. Hope I have been of some help.
