Lower the seat after you use it. Every time. Don't be a jerk.

seats are made to sit on...you are the odd person out in the household...put it down!

Make her lower the lid as well. No one really wants to look in a toilet bowl. Make it the house rule that both should be down

My husband an 5 year old son lift the lid, keep one hand on the lid and one to "manage" the stream, and when they are done they lower the lid. Simple and I never have to worry about sitting in the water in the middle of the night. It makes us all happy.

Ah! The everlasting question of marital relations, leave it up or put it down. Now, you don't care whether it's up or down when you get there but she does. Come on, it's a no-brainer, put it down and keep the peace. It isn't a big enough issue to fall out over.

Neither is right. If you can't reach a compromise, get a urinal installed.

Oh, just kiss and forget about it!

most toilets have a lid, as well as the actual toilet seat. It always looks good if the lid is down and then the toilet bowl is completely covered. I am sure at times you will forget to put the seat down, but if you make a reasonable effort on the whole, it will become a habit which you will do naturally. It is not really about priority for women, but more about what looks neater and more ethical. This said, it is a rather trivial arguement and has been for many years for both sexes. Life is bigger than these silly little issues, is it really so hard to reach a fair compromise?

Come on, be a gentleman. Its really just a courtesy. As a woman, I know what its like in the middle of the night, to go to the bathroom, sit down...only to fall into the toilet. Not nice.
