Could someone who lives in the US please answer my question. Do i have to sign over my rights as a mother in order for her stepmother to file for her, she if filing for both of them, but she says i have to sign her over. I live in Jamaica so i don't know

I'm unclear just what is going on, but don't sign anything. If the stepmother is claiming the child as her dependent on her (the stepmother's) taxes, then you cannot. If the child has earned money, she can file her own taxes. The stepmother can fill out the forms for her, but she (the child) stills signs them. -
