You are allowed to use "reasonable force" which is a bit of a grey area, as what I deem reasonable force may not be what you or the court thnks it is, so if put in that position I will just go for it and do as much damage as possible, and worry about any legal repercussions later.

All I know is if you kill an invader, make sure the body is IN the house before you call the cops. And no blood trails leading from the driveway.

I just took a class on gun safety and my rights as a citizen...legally a person is not allowed to kill another human being unless you feel and or believe that someone's life is in danger of peril. Whether it be with a weapon or without a weapon there are certain places on a body that is considered "Use of Deadly Force" when it comes to where you hit or hurt a person on their body when you defend yourself. At the same time although, if you have more than one person attacking you and they have a weapon and you kill all of them you can say it was self defense. I have a friend who was driving late at night going home from work when these rednecks pulled up in front of him blocking him from driving around them. They got out of the car and while intoxxicated they decided to cause a ruckus so they pulled out some baseball bats and started swinging them at my friend...luckily he had his knife on him, and he used self defense by stabbing one of them in the stomach three times before they all started backing off. My friend is six feet two inches and weighs approximately one hundred and ten pounds still to this day. He managed to get off that night from the police with self defense, and two of those attackers ended up going to the hospital. It all depends on the circumstances when it comes to self defense. How many attackers...are they endangering your life? Do they have weapon(s)? Also if you end up fending off several attackers...and one of them is running away and you continue to hurt them it is no longer self defense.
