  • Well, one use is as a quick multiplication check. odd number * odd number = odd number even number * odd number = even number even number * even number = even number (Note that zero doesn't count, as it is neither even nor odd.) Also, ancient numerology beliefs (Chinese, if I remember correctly) felt that odd numbers were male and therefore had certain characteristics including being more lucky, and odd numbers were female.
  • If you are trying to match things together, even numbers will always give you a match, while odd numbers will always have something left over or unmatched.
  • Knowing which numbers are odd and which are even feeds into basic mathematics foundations.
