It could be in a sense, but it doesn't have to be. Mythology, the study of myths and legends, could reach into parapsychology, the study of the clairvoyance, extrasensory perception, telepathy, etc., by way of finding out if people with certain abilities really do have them. However, mythology is usually historical in it's references and usually there is a tinge of truth to the myth/legend, whereas the parapsychology is more present in it's reference and it's more based around what a person believes they can do vs. someone else's perception of events, which is akin to a myth.
