The people who are making it seem to have a thing for making movies where shit gets blown up and destroyed. So, even if the Mayan Calendar wasn't a thing that people were worried about (and I'm annoyed, but not surprised, that it is), a movie made by them could be nothing other than the doomsday of the Earth. Congratulations on knowing why, by the way. That's really special.
