No, i believe the Taliban are not fighting on behalf of Aghanistan, the West doesn't want to occupy Afghanistan, we want to be out of there, but we need to be sure that the Taliban and Al Qaeda don't reoccupy the country and use it as a base to attack other countries. That is the primary reason the West is there. Us infidels are not interested in converting Afghans from Islam, nor are we fighting a Crusade. The Taliban want to rule Afghanistan with their hardline policies, and then use it as a base to move onto other countries like Pakistan and build their own Caliphate across Asia and then the world. I hope this answers your questions.

No, the Taliban & Al Quaeda represent no-one other than themselves & their vested interests. Both organisations are mostly populated by foreign fighters, not Afghans! These fighters come from all over the world & have a common belief that the west is corrupting Islamic states, supporting Israel in their persecution of the Palestinians, & has troops in Islamic countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait etc. Remember Islam can work very well alongside democracy, the largest democracy in the world is Islamic... Indonesia.
