Yes, you can buy a home in east Tennessee, for less than $100,000, either in town or in the country. The home in town would be very basic, but you might even find a charming little cabin up in the mountains, too, for that.

Doubt you'd wanna live in it if you could....If you wanna live in a safe neighborhood, and in a safe house.....You're looking at at least 500K.

Not a home on land and able to be lived in, however a relocatable home in need of renovating and not on land can be bought for such a price.

not a chance. 15 years ago you could get fixer-upper for that, if you looked really hard. Our property taxes are nearly $10,000 a year, and yet this is just a blue-collar town, go figure.

Australian dollars? No. Not even a unit or flat.

It would probably be due to (I'm guessing) 70% the area. And 30% to general housing prices in the state.

Ps Oh and congratulations on your Genius status :)

there are plenty of homes in good neighborhoods in Saint Louis for under 100k

Most of these homes need some work, but for the most part are in liveable/move-in condition. I just sold a 2bed, 1 bath home in a good area of the city for 95,000.

There are homes available in this price range in the suburbs as well. Most homes (not in forclosure) in that price range don't go over 2 bedrooms. Unless of course your looking in the ghetto.
