My brother-in-law hangs out at the local Tim Horton's coffee shop during mornings. It is a gathering including the city mayor, a judge or two, and some local businessmen. They discuss politics etc.

The only one I am aware of worked for the Kennedy's. Oh wait, and one of my mom's uncles was the Mayor of Victor, Idaho, but I don't remember how long ago. They dedicated a bench at a local park there in his honor.
