Over and Out

Question

Are you able to tell a service provider (hairdresser, repairman, contractor, etc.) that you are not satisfied with their work? Or do you say it's fine and just live with whatever you're unhappy with.

I have no problem telling them that the service was subpar. Usually, what I'll do is first complement the good things, then say but such and such needs to be corrected. If you treat them with respect, they will usually do what it takes to fix it. If they refuse to fix it or reimburse me (at least a portion), then I'm not as nice about it.

I am very verbal when it comes to bad service. I can't help but speak up when something is not right. I emailed
Folgers company because the coffee I bought tasted like it was brewed through someones dirty sock. I told them they needed to know in case other complained about the same batch. I sent them the batch number of the 3 pound size I bought. a week later I got a letter and three coupons each for a three pound package of free coffee. and a letter apologizing for their mistake.

    I would say I wasn't happy..but I wouldn't be rude or agressive about it..

Oho, do I hear a softy woman saying that. You need a strong man to lead the way for you. Could you keep this between me and you, ok, thanks. I do that, give them a cup of coffee while telling them what a top job the had done. Do you know, when the Jeohova?? people come and I tell my wife how strong I was in telling them I was not interested and later she finds the pamphlets and things I have bought from them hidden under the lounge chair cushions, it sort of shows that I'm a softy too.

Whenever I'm unhappy with someones work I just walk around in my underwear, pulled up past my belly button. 9 times out of ten they leave never to call again.......

I tend NOT to live with things I'm unhappy with. If I think the service person is open to changing the unacceptable thing, I'll broach the subject tactfully. If they totally shut me down...I let my feet do my talking.

I have come home from the beauty shop, washed my hair and restyled it the way I wanted to and never said a word to the gal who worked on it. However, if the TV repairman doesn't repair the TV I'm not gonna sit still and be silent. If I can fix something myself, I won't bother complaining. If I can't, then I keep at whomever it is until the thing is repaired and usable. :)

If I have to pay someone to do something, I expect it to be done properly, the first time around. I have no problem with politely informing them of a mistake that they have made and that I expect them to correct the problem, before they get paid. It usually works out.
