Is Answerbag a good place to have long drawn out discussions, instead of simple Q & A?

Hi Yarnlady, I think it depends totally on the question and the people involved. I always want to at least acknowledge someone, but I don't want them to feel they have to go on and on either. Some people I talk to for longer periods of time than others because we have some history together. It's always nice to get to know someone with the personal information they have included in their personal profile as well. You seem really awesome to me anyway.

I'm leaning towards mostly Q&A but some time discussions to ensue. But i think they should be on the topic that was asked. I find it very weird when people start discussing issues on other peoples questions.

Yarn, Many times, I try to JUST answer the question but sometimes I am compelled to interact. AB isn't a social network, but it FEELS like one. It is this reason that makes me think it would be good if AB had a chat application. I personally think that many of the ABer's out here are very nice so asking and answering questions outside of the bag seems natural.

I think we have to know when and where we have to draw the line. I personally like going more into details with topics of interest. Is it a good place to write more? Yes, as long as we are allowed to....

Yes. I have some 6 comments threads which have been running for over 1 week in which about 20 people are participating. I would say AB is better than any other site where the fecilities for long discussions are concerned.

If you're looking for discussions, you can definitely find them here. I've had some pretty good discussions on this site, but I would say the majority of the questions are just plain old Q&A.

I like the Q & As but love the interaction I have had with so many kind and nice people on here. I stay because of that. Its more like having friends then just cold Questions and Answers.

Sometimes. It depends on the discussion though. Over the years, I've had a few that almost made me wish AB didn't allow comments. Unfortunately, I am too confrontational to back down and walk away.
