yes it is, there are many community places that will provide food.
-
Yes, because that is another individuals food. What you can do is ask for it, however.
-
If one has no money it would be necessary to steal to eat.If there was absolutely no way to get food from a food bank and alternative is starvation then what else is one to do.I could see this happening in third world countries but be shocked to see it in first world nations with all the wealth around.
-
yes, stealing whatever the reason is, is bad. the means does not justify the end
-
I was taught that its never right to do wrong to do right... there are many places where one can get meals instead of having to steal food...look for a shelter in your area, or a Salvation Army and dont forget local churches
-
of course not i'd kill and steal to ensure mine and my families survival if there was no other way to do so.
-
Yes, generally it's wrong to steal. Every man, (except those who are impossible to), can work. Work is something that everybody can do, so if you don't have money, you should earn some for food or work for food. However, there are some situation, (war, disasters, surviving in the nature), when you can ''steal'' or take something that is not yours. But, those situations cannot be excuses for stealing.
-
It is wrong to steal but stealing as an extreme necessity I would think is justifiable; 'course it may not hurt to ask..
-
It is wrong to steal. There are soup kitchens and charitable causes to help people in need.
-
I believe it more dignified to die with honor than refuse to admit that your course and share in life wasn't effective enough to survive. My big half brother Matt took this course after 3 months of homelessness, and we buried him at the top of our family plot. Of course, most homeless people I know do this in the winter - they steal a loaf of bread from the grocery store, eat it while they wait for the cops to show up, and spend the winter in jail with a roof over their heads, working showers and toilets, free clothes, free gym equipment, free heating, and probably more food than they see on the street anywhere.

I have never been in such a desparate position so I would not know what it is like to have no money and to be starving therefore it would be wrong of me to judge such people who might even have children to feed. Desparate times sometimes make people do drastic actions.
-
It's wrong to steal In the first place... What I would do, I will go out and try to make some money by raising a fundraiser by washing cars =)
-
It is neither right nor wrong. The concept of right and wrong can only be established after your existence is secure. I think this is something Western countries and citizens often forget these days.
-
Doing a wrong will not make things right. As some of the others said, there are shelters and soup kitchens as well as rescue missions and other places for someone who is without money to get some food. Stealing is not ever the answer.
-
If you gonna steal, steal from thieves, if you gonna murder, murder murderers.
-
Yes. There are many charitable causes that offer food instead. Besides, what led to the lack of money? Doesn't the government offer a pension to the poor?
-
I would actually say no, if you have no other way to obtain food, such as a mission, etc. Every one has to live and it is a dog-eat-dog world out there, let's admit it.
-
No. especially if you steal from the rich or a company. Both those kinds of entitites THEMSELVES steal from the worker through the capitalist exploitation of labor, so your only taking back whats rightfully yours in my opinion.
-
I don't think it is. Anyone that honestly thinks it is wrong to steal if your life depends on it, must be awfully coldhearted. People who CAN afford to eat, really have no idea what it's like to not be able to. If you were so poor you couldn't afford ANYTHING to eat for yourself, and finding a job meant searching for weeks WITHOUT anything to hold you over, then you'd steal too I bet. No matter how wrong you might think stealing is, you'd most likely do it if it would save your life.

Is there no work? No way of earning a meal or the money to pay for it? If you can steal, you can work. If there's no work, you can beg. That being said ... It's wrong to steal, but ... it's even more wrong to let those who absolutely can't provide for themselves die from starvation if you have the means to prevent it, i.e., after feeding yourself and your dependents, you still have enough left over to feed others. it's even more wrong not to pay a man a living wage (for himself AND his family) for a full-day's work. Thus, as the preservation of life trumps the preservation of property rights, there is some justification in stealing the surplus of a horder or exploiter in order to obtain the necessities of life they have denied you. That's not Marxist ideology (Marxism denies even the existance or relevance of Right and Wrong): it's Catholic social theory. Rabbinical thought agrees too.

No. I can ask my parent to buy for my lunch.
-
Not when you work for General Custard
-
Yes it is - but hunger and self survival give you a pretty good excuse to break the law. Consider this rephrasing of the question: If you have no money, is it wrong to steal food from someone else who has no money? Let's tweak it a bit more: If you are starving, is it wrong to steal food from someone else who is starving?

Morality is not a sliding scale, that is the black and white of it. If one sees the grays of such issues I cannot, will not judge another however I would caution that if one finds a reason to excuse a crime it may become more the norm and doing the correct thing the rarity - such is human nature. The old slippery slope theory. +5

1. Are you starving to death? LITERALLY starving to death? 2. Have you exhausted all other possibilities?
-
To save life ... the value of anything else is second. Ask first ... if they refuse and life is at risk, then do what you need to survive I say. The politician eating 5 star everyday at the tax payers expense whilst his people go hungry and homeless, is a greater theft ... Thanfully I'm not hungry ... but if I had no money to buy him food, I would certainly steal it for him.
-
If Aladdin can do it, I can do it.
-
In a literal sense, yes. However when desprate people can justify any action. Inter arma enim silent leges. In times of arms, laws fall mute. It can also apply to times when people battle hunger. Though I still wait for the time many people in America REALLY suffer from starvation. I wonder if they'll speak so badly about social programs then? My opinion: People have not only the right, but the responsibility to do whatever it takes to survive.
-
It is wrong to steal to eat. If you have no money, you already did something wrong to get in that position.
-
Yes it's wrong. You can work to eat, beg to eat, forage to eat, hunt to eat, scavenge to eat, but stealing is wrong, and illegal.
