  • absolutly.... every person who has personaly been a slave should be compensated for regardless of race.
  • Only if they were one. That deserves some payback I'd say!
  • That would be nice, even if I'm not African American. Either that or give them some property for working all those years in the fields. I've heard the US Congress finally apologized to the American who had ancestors who were slaves on June 19, 2009. That's a good step.
  • african americans are the only culture brought here in chains. they are the only culture to not be allowed their own names. they were removed from any semblance of family. they were treated, if they were lucky, on a par with farm animals. yes, many european cultures were horrifically discriminated against-there is no comparison. so, if some token helps this tragedy take its place in history-why not?
  • Only if any who were slaves are still around... And only to them. To their descendants? No.
  • How about the christins that were slaves in Egypt, Blacks want to bring up the point that they africans were slaves, well jews that became chrisins were slaves in Egypt. Should the US Goverment compensate them also. Or it it just for blacks. American indians were treated just as bad if not worse. I'm part American Indain should I get compensated too.
  • WHY does this idiotic question keep coming up? ALL THE SLAVES ARE DEAD. They died a LONG time ago. As long as people keep looking back, they'll NEVER move forward and never enjoy the fruits of success. Is that really what you want for them?
  • You may not believe this, but there are, to this day African Americans still living in the bondage of the white man. They call it the prison industrial complex. Go visit any prison. It's vastly disproportional and a direct result of old bigotries. Do I think all black people should be paid directly? No, but I do think they need a level playing field and still don't have it.
  • What about the Native Americans and the Jews, seems to me they had it harder for much longer. My ancestors (white people) worked on the Underground Railroad, and did what they could do to help the Native Americans. My Karma is clean on this issue.
  • Money wouldn't be enough to compensate. Give them more, and a sense that the white man respects them, and THEN, MAYBE we'll be okay.
  • First I think we Italians should be given money because we were enslaved upon entering this country and millions died in the sweat shops and the construction of this country yo...
  • No because it would downsize the enslavement of others, ensuring a evident division line, as compensation would be in effect for a certain breed.
  • Like I said before: they got AFDC Food Stamps Welfare Subsidized housing...
  • only if we give back the land that we had taken away form the Native Americans,, then yes ,,
