I think if you believe in God(s) and then you start trying to tell people what are they, or what the plan is then you are making gods evil. I think that many interpretations of what god(s) want are evil. I think that each person's life is unique and therefore we could not be expected to do the same things or live by the same rules. Dharma.

The gods aren't evil. The people who make them up are evil. The gods don't really exist. On day 6 God created man. On day 7 man repaid the favor.

There is no evidence that any God or god actually exists to say is evil. But to answer your question- all the Gods and gods sometimes exhibit questionable behavior. So I agree with you; God himself was the original sinner then made it look like Adam and Eve were to blame. Yes. he sure did create man in his image!
-
No I do not agree.
-
no. some of the invented gods are quite nice

At least the ancient gods were a bunch of drunken incestuous f*** ups. That explains all the pain, suffering, and random bullsh!t humanity had to put up with. This new fictitious god is either an incompetent jackass, or an evil bastard....I'm going with evil bastard.
-
gods? of course...but really its the men who made these gods that are evil but ignorance has always played the biggest part.... the Almighty is the only TRUE GOD... i love the new song. God is Great, Beer is Good and People are Crazy...:) kinda says it all for me...
-
Nah. I'm cool with the gods. It's their maniacal followers that worry me.
-
I don't agree totally. God(s) do not exist, therefore, something that doesn't exist can't be evil. However, the idea of gods and forces behind them sure as hell are evil
-
maybe all capital G gods are evil. I might line up with you on that. For the most part gods take responsibility for solving life's most crucial questions. Or they become the center of our attention. Like this site for example.

I do not agree. There is only one true God.

I think monotheism encourages badness that polytheism can - at least partially - avoid. The whole "I am God, I am the only God. Anyone who says otherwise is ripe for conversion or slaughter" is taken off the table. Also - in cases like the Greco-Roman gods, they represented specific emotions and / or natural forces. So you had Poseidon - deep, moody sometimes violent god of the Oceans and Athena - Goddess of strategy, the art of warfare, spiders and weaving... Some people were followers of one but many prayed to whichever they needed at the time. Kind of like modern saints. Also, just because you lived in Atehns and had the Olympian gods didn't mean you denied the existence of that Persian guy's gods. Maybe you thought yours could beat his up - but that's about it. And maybe you might even adopt a few into your own home temple. To me that's much more useful and healthy. Sure there were clashes between Math God's guys vs Music God's guys but generally not as bad. I don't think they existed any more than todays players. Just more useful and more fun :-) +5

Gods are created by men, no? And, as we all know, there's always been a shitload of 'evil' dudes runnin' around. So the chances are excellent that your hypothesis is balls-on accurate! Q.E.D. (!) ;-)
