  • good question they are about love because, well truth be told, sex sells the music industry knows that the average person is more inclined to buy songs about simple ideas, light subject matter and happy things such as love rather than complex ideas, heavy subject matter and hateful or depressing things. The corporate machine knows that the best way to make money is to make products for the lowest common denominator, thus the music industry makes simple love songs for the lowest common denominator to maximize sales. i dont know one aggressive, heavy or depressing song that has ever been extremely popular in the mainstream, the closest complex, deep, truly MEANINGFUL music gets to 'popular' is "one" metallica and "war pigs" black sabbath (those songs are masterpieces) Its a shame, really
