With women making up 52% of the population, and being more likely to vote than men, is it fair to suggest that it's women who don't want a lot of women in politics?

I think that perhaps most people simply consider issues besides gender. But you are correct, a lot of people just don't seem to want to vote for women. Palin actually hurt the republican party in terms of performance with women, and Hillary makes almost every conservative woman angry for no apparent reason. So I think that there still is a bias against female politicians- in the minds of many men and women, not just one gender.
