Interesting thought. I've found that the word "patience" is universally applied about others, never about the person using the word. That is, nobody ever says "I have patience", though they may say "I don't have the patience to do that". The word is almost always used to describe a characteristic of another, as in "He has patience to do...whatever". For example, I have enjoyed some hobbies that required a lot of time and careful attention to detail. I would have fun doing my hobby and never considered the word "patience" as applying to me. But others would say that I had "patience" in doing whatever I was doing.
