The Greek gods represented aspects of nature and human emotions, paying homage to Athena was looking for wisdom for instance. Would a return to such religions be healthier than monotheism and satisfy many people's urge for Gods?

Religion by any other name is still religion; however, I do have to agree that it would be less dangerous. Unless, of course, a bunch of them goes whacko and decides to kill in the name of all those dieties for all kinds of made up stuff

Gods as representations of feelings, observations, predillections, etc. would be a whole lot safer, no? But I'm afraid that ship has sailed away. Now lotsa folks use their "God" as a weapon! ;-)

We have our gods - money, power, beauty...nothing has changed except the names.
