  • Dont drop your soap
  • be prepared to fight u might think becoming someones bitch in prison is just a joke but its not fight and fight hard or else youll lose yourself
  • Depends on the county you're in and what type of personality you have. I've been there man and for quite a while... Over some petty BS, I might add. My best advice is to keep to yourself and not be a pussy. I don't blame you for being scared one bit, just don't let anybody know it when you get in there. They feed on that. They're freaked out too and a bunch of wild animals in a cage tend to eat each other. I don't know what you did but there are some douchebags in there. Don't trust anybody. Tons of back stabbers and thieves, obviously. Just lay low until you get a feel for it, but don't be scared at the same time. It's not as bad as they make it out to be on TV. It's very unlikely you're going to get raped or anything. Though, there are tons of fights and the such, if you're in a tough county. Take it one day at a time and you'll be all right.
  • I've had some friends who have been locked up. One of them for most of his life in prison. Other just in jail. First of all, it's jail, not prison. very different. and what you were in before was just a holding cell. People in prison are in for the long haul. People in jail are just sweating out at most 6 months to a year. Secondly, those stories about rape. That doesn't really happen. Especially not in jail. Other than that, my understanding is that you'll share a cell with someone but most of the time will be spent in a large common room. Occasional time outside in a yard. TV. A canteen for those who have money. Be cool and lay low till you know what's going on. Not authoritative, but like I said, I've had a few friends who've been through it and that's what I remember them telling me.
  • Thanks for answering my questions … Just been in the holding cell was bad enough and ended up going to court in the morning. Couldn’t believe it when I got taken to court – I was cuffed, waist chain and leg shackles and in jail clothes – thought that only happened in serious case. I got into a fight after been drinking and ended up assaulting someone bad enough and kicked the cop too so I was told I could get 3 years but as it was a first offense and I’m just coming up to 19 the deal is 6 months and 3 years probation. I can handle myself OK but don’t want to get into any more trouble. Never thought I’d end up going to jail but shit happens. Can’t imagine being locked up even for 6 months – just have a few more questions: how much time were you actually in the cell for each day, when you were out of the cell did they cuff you at all or is that only when out of the jail altogether, how often were you allowed visits, how did the guards treat ya – just things I’m wondering about!
