You can be alone and happy. Lonely is when you are alone and not happy

if no one is physically present near you then you are alone, and if no one is mentally with you then you are lonely.

You can be alone and not feel lonely, and you can feel lonely while in a crowd of people.

    Just your perspective.

Alone is an observable state. You either are or are not alone.
Lonely is subjective - a state of mind. Being alone does not necessarily mean you are lonely.
