My starting paragraph would start with the part in the timeline which best engages and elucidates the purpose of your story. For instance, if you're talking about the career of a legend, then you might want to throw in a acedote about the person during their prime. I would probably follow up with paragraphs in chronologically order from start to present since it is easiest for the reader to follow.

Homer (who wrote the Iliad and the Odyssey) started in the middle, then went back to the beginning, took the story to the point where he began telling it, and then moved forward. I always liked that approach. You get hooked on the situation as it is, but get the background, then move forward to the conclusion. People still read his stories after thousands of years, so he must have got something right.
