What inspired me to ask the question was a news article about a church minister who felt somehow that he was not up to performing his duties in a sincere manner. Psychological analysis revealed that he actually did not believe in God- which may be the case with some people.. assuming oneself does believe because its traditional.. everybody believes in God, don't we? Out of fear of unbelief I guess some people go to the extreme of joining a fundamentalist denomination to become bashed and brainwashed till they feel convinced that they do believe. But running against the grain of the brain can unbalance one's mental health. That seems fairly obvious sometimes.
