You can try rubbing an inconspicuous part of the jewelry on the rough back of a ceramic tile. If it leaves behind a yellow trail, it's likely real gold. Most minerals leave behind what is called a streak when rubbed on a rough white surface, and the streak of gold is pale yellow.

If the piece has no hallmark or jewelers mark, it is not gold. The mark will be on the clasp, pinsetta, jump ring. You'll need a jewelers loop or a 10X loop to find it. That's the only way to find out at home, otherwise, take it to a jeweler.

It will say on it somewhere 10k or some kind of amount and "K" on it if its real gold. (You want to send it to me to ck it out for you? hehe I Promise I'll send it right back! lol)

To get the actual amount of gold content, you need to see an expert.
