Asexual reproduction is a form of reproduction which does not involve meiosis, ploidy reduction, or fertilization. Only one parent is involved in asexual reproduction. Plants are a good example, one parent usually contains both male and female sexual 'organs' for flowers, while plants that throw off 'pups' like aloe, hens and chickens. Humans are sexual, requiring two partners to procreate. In the animal kingdom we have hydras, sponges and Echinodermata (star fish by any other name ;-) ) Hydras do it by 'budding'. Sponges by Gemmules (Internal Buds). Starfish by regeneration - such as dropping a leg that grows into a full grown adult animal. There are other methods as well, I can not recall them at this time.
