Keep the area clean and use this to keep it clean and such- http://www.h2ocean.com/ it's not that expensive and it helped me with mine, my cousin also had hers get infected and as long as you don't over clean it or expose it to harsh chemicals the skin should not get red. YOU do not need to buy from the site, you can go to a tattoo/piercing parlor and buy it for cheaper. Much cheaper actually, just see what it looks like so you know it's the right one. Don;t let her play with it and eventually the pain does leave, you get used to it and it is teared skin so it needs to heal.... Good luck and I hope it helps.
