  • I missed that. Can you tell me what Letterman said? It seems to be in the news a lot, but I haven't heard what he said yet. Whatever, I've always heard it isn't a good idea to go after celebrities or politicians children.
  • I'm a Jay Leno fan...I've never liked Letterman. There is something kinda snobbish and condescending about him. Yes, it was out of line..both his use of the word "slutty" in reference to Palin herself and in the two "jokes" about her daughter. Now to be fair, Palin knew darn well Letterman was referring to the older daughter..the one that got pregnant and has a baby..he was not referring to the 14-year old at all..everyone knew that. Palin will take any political advantage it seems...what Letterman said was bad enough..she didn't have to make it worse, which and her husband chose to do. So they both get black marks from me. Happy Thursday sweetie! :) ((hugs))
  • I'm pasting my answer to another question about this subject. It pretty much says all that needs to be said on this: First of all, don't get me wrong: I like a good joke as much as the next person. And some would think that my sense of humor is, at times, somewhat twisted. Be that as it may, let me establish something right off the bat: I don't give a cr*p about who cracks jokes of questionable taste in most circumstances. I DO give a cr*p about people who crack jokes about CHILDREN and YOUNG ADULTS, most especially those of celebrities or other public figures. Life is hard growing up as a child. You get to deal with all kinds of peer pressure issues and jack*sses as it is just by having to grow up with others. Kids your own age can be merciless enough as it is. However, to PUBLICALLY crack such jokes about specific children and young adults, especially by name and MOST especially on network television, isn't funny to the recipient AT ALL. You mentioned Imus', likely in reference to his "nappy headed hoes" comment. I don't give that man any slack either, even though the recipients were of adult age and far better equiped to blow off such comments. <EDIT: This part was in response to a reference to Imus' comment in the original question I answered and is not a reference to anything posted in response to this question.) Willow Palin is a 14 year old girl. She has to deal with all the things normal 14 year old girls have to contend with and then some, as the caughter of a public figure. But NOW she has to deal with being publically humiliated on NATIONAL TELEVISION. A 14 year old girl. I don't give a sh*t if it's Willow Palin or Chelsea Clinton. That's a steaming crock of sh*t.
  • I am a Letterman fan AND a Palin fan. Palin is right about this one. Letterman needs to realize that in 25 years of jokes, he may go over the line every once in a while. If he would have just apologized upfront it would not have been an issue, but his politics prevented him from being a decent human being in this incident.
  • Yes I think it is a cheap shot to make jokes about a persons children . The problem being that the pregnant daughter was used to advantage during Ms. Palins' campaign. I suppose it was to make her seem to have the same problems that voters families face. Her daughter just ticked another box at that time. I find the jokes offensive and cruel but I also feel that her Mother threw her into the arena and as such should be held to account
  • There's a limit to joking around and he went too far. But I'm not surprised. I've always felt his humour was sarcastic, hurtful and downright mean a lot of the time. He seems to think it is funny as hell and it may be to him but not to others. Guess that is why I've never really watched his show
  • OMG PEOPLE!!! it was a JOKE! I thought it was a stupid joke (i hate letterman anyway) but nevertheless, it was a joke. He was talking about an 18 year old WOMAN not a CHILD and Sarah is taking this way out of hand. She just wants 15 more minutes of fame. Its pathetic.
  • It wasa joke. They're called jokes for a reason. Becuase they're very joky.
