Because people have shown they are willing to pay it despite the ridiculous price tag. When people support those prices, the distributors mark the prices up even higher to see how much more money they can make. If you bought that purse, you contributed to the problem, unfortunately. Don't support being ripped off.

Because there is somebody out there that will give $650 for it. Instead of dwelling on the purse, just think how much other cool stuff you could buy with that much money. A month's worth of rent, (if you have a roommate) 1,326 cheeseburgers at McDonalds, hire some random dude to follow you around for a week and yell obsenities at everyone you meet, (ya know, so you will look better for not doing things like that.) Or if you are really cool, think how many meals that would buy an elderly person living on a fixed income. The choice is yours....choose wisely :)
