What should I do with my old TV sets? They will not work after this Friday and they are so old that they don't even have a coaxial connection (they're 300 ohm connectors). The Salvation Army won't take them. I tried giving them away on CL. No takers.

This may seem weird ; BUT it has worked for me whenever I wanted to get rid of something .... I put a sign on it for like $50.00 and stick it out in the front yard , CLOSE to the sidewalk ... come inside and close my doors .... I allow it to set out side all night .... BUT; USUALLY it is GONE in the morning when I go to check on it ... THEN; it becomes someone elses problem ... so the THIEF gets PLAYED ... and I get rid of my junk.

I'm surprised you can't give them away. They're still good with a converter box.

If they receive UHF, there are adaptors to go from the coax connection to the screw terminals. They should be usable with converter boxes. But if you really don't want them, you need to dispose of them properly. Your local city hall may be able to tell you what you need to do. Unfortunately, in some places, you actually have to pay to dispose of old TVs and monitors.
