  • The benificent (?) phenomenon of 'selective memory'! ;-)
  • I dont think they were at all...
  • I don't know about the world's past, but my personal past was riddled with depression and anxiety. I couldn't be happier now, and I didn't have to rely on prescriptions or shrinks. So i'd say that the present seems much better, at least for me.
  • I could suggest the following reasons: (1) You have gone through it and now you know what to expect. No more surprises! (2) The good have had feelings. (3) Can afford to forget them, especially the bad experiences. (4) Selective memories.
  • Only you know what happened in the past, but don't know what will happen in the future. so by default, things were much better in the past.

  • The present seems to bombard us with constant pressures, just think of what you need to do tomorrow let alone right now. Looking back, there is no pressure; just the memories of what we like to recall. The future is uncertain; the past is certain = no anxiety (?)
  • Because when we were younger we were covered from harm by our parents. Thus when we didn't NEED to be the ones trying to work for a living, everything was simpler for ourselves.
  • Because they were. The 60's were the absolute best time to grow up. The innocent age. Wolfman Jack was on the radio and everyone across the nation listened at night. People had jobs, commodities were cheap, the air was cleaner, having a baby did not cost 20,000 dollars, you actually could afford to buy gasoline, the movies were 50 cents, bread was 18 cents, a new volkswagen cost under 2,000 dollars, and going on a date cost 5.00 and that was everything. The music had meaning. a great time to fall in love and stay in love. A new brick 3-bedroom ranch home cost 16,500 dollars. Today and America's future is uncertain. My children agree that they could live without cellphones, computers and dvds, if only the 60s were here again for them.
  • They don't to me, but I'm glad they do to you :)
  • Because things are so crap now!
  • What like the holocaust.
