This is probably caused because of a driver problem. To see if this is the problem, go Start -> Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Hardware [Tab] and scroll down to the audio device on your computer. Select it then click Properties -> Driver [Tab] and then click Update Driver. If this is not the problem, your sound card (assuming it's not on-board) could be loose and you need to secure it more firmly in the computer.
