A sawed-off shotgun has a shorter barrel.
-
A sawn-off shotgun has the barrels truncated, to give a wider spread of pellets, increasing short-range stopping power at the expense of long-range accuracy.
-
the sawed off shot gun naturally has a shorter barrell, the pattern will be much wider making it less effective and a slug will be farr less accurate. also the sawed-off shotguns are illeagle to hunt with and most likely to own.
-
normal shotgun would be fired at birds & possibly animals... sawed off or security shotguns are fired at people... also sawed off shotguns are manipulated to be a covert weapon hidden under someones coat & fired at close range at a persons chest, head etc.... Sawed off shotguns have the stock and a portion of the long barrel cut off by a hacksaw or other blade...
-
the barrel is also known to be shortened to remove the weapons serial number on specific models, meaning no link between a gun and the person who owns it, often counter terrorist groups have been known to carry sawn of shotguns with a solid shot in order to open locked doors, reffered to as "the key to the city"
-
Normal shotgun has a long barrel Sawn-off has the barrel shortened to the point of normally not being legal, while also sometimes having serial numbers and such scratched off. Interesting note, Sawn of shotguns were used by the killers at columbine.
-
Barrel length, the sawed-off shotgun is shorter, greater maneuverability and has less range.
-
when a person cuts off a barrell of a shot gun that person looses the spread of the pellets where as a shot gun with a regular barrell will hold the bb pattern a longer ways, when you saw off the shot gun ballell it is no longer a sporting gun, the sawed off gun looses its bb spread, and becomes a weapon for aggression or protection
-
wow, no one has mentioned it yet. aside from shorter barrels, THEY DONT HAVE STOCKS.
-
the barrels are cut off, and no stock on the back
-
Physically, the gun would be shorter and range would be different.
-
the difference is that a sawed off shot gun has less of a barrel to shoot from and thus giving a wide pattern and lessoning the distance un which it can fire. where as a longer barrell means a tighter pattern and can shoot farther
-
The difference is huge, a sawed off is much less accurate. It is more of a sudden burst, than a shot. It is also much easier to conceal, and that is why they are illegal.
-
The buck shot spreads out better because the barrel sends them down a more straight path the longer.
-
A sawed off shotgun is what it name implies. A barrel cut down by a hack saw or chop saw to shorten the barrel less than 18inches long. A sawed off shotgun does have a stock for those out there who are claiming it doesn't because you would have nothing to hold on to if it didn't. The stock may be chopped as well but its not required to meet the "sawed off" moniquer. Sawed off shotguns are better concealed than regular shotguns and "swing" better in tight situations like exiting a vehicle, or maneuvering through a house. They are illegal in most states.
-
the sawed off shotgun makes a bigger mess. call it overkill.
-
The barrel is shorter & the accuracy isn't as good with a sawed-off shotgun. BTW, now I can't get a certain Cypress Hill song out of my head!

about 10 years
-
The difference is that sawn-off shotguns are BOMB!!!!
-
Basically is becomes shorter ranged and has a wider spead of pellets.
