MS Word has Open Office, and Adobe Photoshop has GIMP. Is there a GNU equivalent for Autodesk Maya? I can't find any on Google.

correct me if i'm wrong but maya is like 3D animation software (that's what i am unsure of) and THAT sells for vast amounts of money, and i would imagine would be rather a pain in the ass to write the program compared to other free/opensource software. so maby it's not avalible free due to this
