I know someone who is about to file assault charges on her son because he hit her today, he is on crack and ran away after he hit her and stole money. if he gets arrested he will say his mother sells drugs(she used to). can she be charged?

• thanks - she doesnt have anything anymore so i think she would be ok ... what if they investigated and people admitted that they bought stuff from her .. even if it was years ago could she get charged?

• No, if that were the case, court rooms would pop at the seams from people pointing fingers at people they don't like. If any of those people were narcotics agents or in law enforcement of any kind, and it were recent, that's a different story.

  I think the only thing she is guilty of now is enabling HIM by giving him money. Its hard for me as an outsider to understand how she could still support him all these years but also I know that the dynamics between a mother and an addicted child are really complicated.
  
  And she doesnt have a record...i hope she charges him.

• well, I have to say I'm jaded. Being Latina I've seen how almost all the women I've known (Latinas) lose their shit over their sons, constantly are either bailing them out, defending them, worring about them more has made us cynical. Ask any inner-city Latin girl who has brothers and see if she doesn't agree.

• Geez...that's kinda sad...do the Father's then bond more strongly and defend the daughters? I wonder if it's because they figure the girls will "marry" and leave, while the boys are expected to care for their mothers when they are elderly? A sad but interesting perspective...trend...tradition??
