Poor woman. I think it was too much too soon. The media ravaged her, and she couldn't compete with that - even with her talent.
-
These contests are immensely stressful. Fortunately younger people deal with stress better than many adults. I don't know about Boyle or whether she had to go to any clinic but it's possible. I don't know if it would be the print media - in the UK some of the mags and papers can be quite vicious.
-
What happened to her?
-
I imagine that the competition put too much stress on her. She has really been though a lot lately!!! I would not exactly blame the media.
-
no it's her fault if she couldnt handle the fame and stress she should'nt have enter a national televised talent show.
-
She is reported to be suffering from exhaustion - the media might be to blame but so are questions like this for exaggerating it!
-
Nah. I doubt she'd have been admitted if she had won, for instance...
-
I think it is terrible what they did to her! The media should be really ashamed!
-
I don't think anyone is to blame, really - she's had a tough couple of weeks. Went from nothing to the media being all over her practically overnight. I'd be exhausted too!
-
I don't believe that. The Guardian and Piers Morgan argue that she is simply (understandably) exhausted - who are we to believe? If it were true that she has been sent to the priory to be assessed unter the Act the media would probably have contributed towards it, I don't think we could put all the blame on to them though.

I doubt that anyone is properly prepared to face and handle sudden, unanticipated fame that seems to come out of the blue as it did for Ms Boyle...and has with many, many others. One day you’re a nobody, and the next you’re known and admired the world over, not to mention the gargantuan wealth that you can expect to be flowing into your pockets. The sad part, I think, is that there are probably few who know just how it will be, and sit down with the new famed and tell them exactly what is now going to happen...and how it may become nothing but a curse. The media, largely heartless, will contribute to the incredible angst that will beset the new “victim”, regardless. I think few average human beings could handle it...even with concentrated “training”. It’s just one of those “I have some good news for you...and I have some bad news for you.”...and you’re gonna suffer both! Also, I really enjoy her voice for what limited amount us Yanks have heard it. I look forward to hearing more. She should do well financially...but, sadly, her simple, private life is history. I hope she can pull it and keep it together. It won't be easy. I think I’m content to be a little nothing AB nobody for the rest of my brief life, thank you. :-) +5, Firebrand

According to ET and Inside Edition, it is exhaustion more than anything else. And there are those blaming the show, not informing the people on it that they may be besieged as she was, nor for providing help in the form of counselors. Are the Print Media to blame? Paparazzi and shouted questions, yes. But the Video and Internet Media is JUST as to blame, as they've made sure to have a camera and reporter(s) (EACH station) so as to not be scooped.
-
I think her losing is to blame.
-
It was all so OTT.
-
Yes. Once again, they aren't happy until they've destroyed someone.
-
Could be, if they were writing mean things... and I'm sure it's depressing to read what thousands of people think of you, since I'd imagine you'd start feeling like you have nothing private anymore. Poor lady.
-
I think they added a lot to her condition , though to much to quick can really add to the stress , so yes to a certain agree . -- + up -- I am so glad to see you Firebrand , Hugs to you my friend
